How the character counter works
Type or paste text and every count updates instantly: total characters, characters excluding all whitespace, words, and lines. There is no submit button and no character limit — the counts simply follow your text.
Characters are counted by Unicode code points, so each emoji counts as one character rather than two. Whitespace means spaces, tabs, and line breaks: the “no spaces” figure strips all of them before counting.
Everything runs in your browser. The text you paste is never sent, saved, or logged anywhere.

What is the difference between the two character counts?
“Characters” counts every keystroke including spaces, tabs, and line breaks. “No spaces” strips all whitespace first — use it when a limit ignores spacing.
How are emoji counted?
Each emoji counts as one character. The counter uses Unicode code points, avoiding the double-counting that simpler counters produce for emoji.
Does my text get uploaded anywhere?
No. Counting happens entirely inside your browser. This page does not send or store the text you enter.
Is there a character limit?
No. Paste anything from a tweet to a full document — the counts keep up.
